Saskatchewan Wheat Pool (originally Saskatchewan Co-operative Wheat Producers Ltd.)

Founded in 1923-24 after frustrated farmers, unable to get fair wheat prices, organized following California lawyer Aaron Sapiro's speeches about cooperative pooling. Required 45,725 farmers to pledge 6,433,779 acres of wheat over five years to reach 50% acreage target. Started as a grain-pooling cooperative to bypass grain exchange speculation and provide stable, pooled pricing to farmers.
