KPMG

KPMG began in 1987 with a large merger between two prominent international accounting firms, Klynveld Main Goerdeler (KMG) and Peat Marwick International (PMI). The name "KPMG" comes from the initials of the founders of the constituent firms: Piet Klynveld, William Barclay Peat, James Marwick, and Reinhard Goerdeler. The firm's roots, however, trace back further to the late 19th century with the establishment of these individual accounting practices.
