Farmers Edge Inc.

Founded in 2005 in Pilot Mound, Manitoba by agronomists Wade Barnes and Curtis MacKinnon. Started in Barnes' basement when they quit their jobs after their boss refused to advance variable-rate technology as quickly as they wanted. They began with no money, little credit, and almost no income, serving 20,000 acres for about a dozen farmers. The early years had mixed results as technology caught up to their vision.
