On TWCFounded in 1880 by Frank C. and Edmund B. Ball who borrowed $200 from their uncle to purchase the Wooden Jacket Can Company in Buffalo, New York. The company made tin cans encased in wooden jackets for kerosene, paints, and varnishes. The Ball brothers moved operations to Muncie, Indiana in 1889, eventually becoming famous for glass Mason jars before evolving into the world's largest aluminum packaging manufacturer.
